Episode 97 – Shoot Report LEFA bluebell shoot

In this episode I provide a shoot report for Long Eaton Field Archers NFAS competition which they hosted last week.

Overall it was a good day, with some fantastic weather and good company. I didn’t shoot as well as I would have liked but if you listen to the podcast you’ll understand why I was distracted earlier on in the day.

The course was 36 targets and all 3Ds, with some very cleverly set shots and good use of dead ground.

I’m going to record a YouTube video for this podcast too using some of the photos I took.

Thanks again to all involved with setting up and running the event.

Thanks for reading.

Episode 96 – Shooting gloves and tabs

I’m trying something a little different with this episode and recording this as a video walk through of some of the different shooting gloves and tabs used in traditional archery.

I’ve also listed this on my YouTube channel.
I probably need to do some work next time on editing and the like but it’s a first attempt.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching.

Gap shooting research

I wanted to take this opportunity to offer my thanks to the members of The Push listeners Facebook group and the subscribers to Offthearrowshelf Facebook page for their comments.

I’m doing some research on gap shooting for a future episode of the podcast and I posted this question about gap shooting. The responses have been great and really useful in building up an idea of the methods people use.

My question was on gap shooting and inviting thoughts please.

If you have a fixed anchor and gap shoot do you look at target and let’s say at 30 yards your gap in 4 inch above. Do you

1. Consciously put point of arrow 4 inch above where you want to hit?

Or

2. Actually focus your aim 4 inches above?

It’s a subtle difference and speaking to people I’ve found a mix.

I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts if you are a gap shooter on what method you use. Thanks for reading.
