Along with finding out I came 27th in the World Indoor Barebow rankings, I won the title of Barebow Champion of the West at Dunster!
Shame I wasn’t awarded a gold GWAS badge like the other bowstyles, but at least I have the title (which wasn’t even mentioned during the presentation).
Olympic Torch bearer in Leicester
I’m not an Olympian and not likely to be, I haven’t bought tickets to see any of the events but don’t take it wrong and think I’m not supportive of the games or the competitors.
These individuals will have spent years developing their fitness levels and skills to compete at a truly global level, so they deserve our respect and support. Whether they be able bodied or competing in the Paralympics they are still Olympians. They may not all come home with the gold, silver or bronze medals, but they will always be special.
So what bought these comments?
Well this morning Sharon and I got up just after 5:30 am, so we could get down the National Space Centre in Leicester to see the Olympic flame as it makes its way across the country to finally rest in London in a few weeks. It had arrived in Leicester last night and was due to leave a little after 7 am. Despite it being a damp, grey morning and not the glorious sunshine the torch bearers deserve, hundreds of people of all ages, race and backgrounds, lined the pavements and streets to cheer on the torch bearers as they made their way through Leicester and out towards Loughborough.

Congratulations to all that have had the honour of carrying the torch and good luck to all the Olympians for 2012 games and future ones. Lets hope it inspires people

3D Fox though the trees
The course was made up of 40 3D targets with a couple of predator prey shots that were very nicely set.
The course was very well laid with great use of available cover and framing of targets.
For those not familiar with predator prey targets let me explain. Predator prey shots are ones where you have a predator target positioned to look like its attacking a prey. Here it is a mountain lion against ram.
With your first arrow you target the prey, if you are successful in hitting the predator you can then have a bonus arrow at the prey. If you miss the predator with your first arrow you then target the prey with your second arrow, but even if hit the predator with your second arrow, you now don’t get to shoot at the prey.
I’ve said it before that i don’t like lunch breaks when shooting as i tend to go off the boil but on some grounds it is a necessity and lefa is one. Whilst talking food and got to say top marks to all the catering staff for great food, throughout the day. The other thing it did make for was a great atmosphere.
